Geography you can hear

Internet radio directories are lists. A list tells you a station exists in Lagos; it does not give you any feeling of distance. Putting stations on a globe changes the experience — you drag across an ocean, land somewhere you have never been, and the sound that comes out belongs to that place.

Station data comes from Radio Browser, a community-maintained open directory. Each station is placed at its broadcast location and appears as a marker you can select directly from the globe.

The tuner

Rather than a dropdown, there is an analog-style tuner. Drag the needle and it snaps to available stations, so sweeping the dial genuinely feels like scanning a band. Next and previous step through stations; a tag filter narrows to a genre if you want jazz, news or talk specifically.

What to know before you press play

Audio connects directly from your browser to the broadcaster's stream. That means your IP address is visible to that broadcaster, exactly as it would be if you opened their stream URL yourself.

Community directories also drift. Some stations go offline, change stream URLs, or are geographically mislabelled. If one fails to play, step to the next — it is a directory problem, not a bug in the globe.

Common questions

Where do the radio stations come from?

The Radio Browser open community directory, with stations placed at their broadcast locations on the globe.

Is listening free?

Yes. No account or key is needed for the radio layer.

Is my IP address shared?

Yes. Audio streams directly from your browser to the broadcaster, so that broadcaster can see your IP — the same as opening the stream in any player.

Why won't a station play?

Community-listed stations sometimes go offline or change stream URLs. Use next to step to another station.

Can I filter by genre?

Yes. A tag filter narrows the tuner to categories such as news, talk or music genres.
